We had a wonderful stay at Oaklands House, the room was impeccably clean with fresh linen midweek and towels changed frequently. There was always plenty of tea & coffee available in the room with a daily supply of biscuits. Jan could not have been more helpful and responded quickly to any enquiries we had. We saw red squirrels every day from our bedroom. The airconditioning was an added bonus which we found useful on occasions. The ensuite was immaculate, modern and very clean with a good supply of towels and toiletries. The breakfasts were excellent with a good selection of items to choose from and all very fresh. Jan kept the supplies topped up throughout the breakfast time and we were able to sample a selection of different foods throughout our week.

The setting was marvellous, just next door to the beach and the pub across the junction and a lovely garden. It also was in a tourist centre. It was an excellent stay for 3 nights Jul '15, do recommend this hotel.

Oaklands House is a great place to stay on the beautiful Isle of Wight, with its convenient location in a tourist center. Guests can enjoy amazing views of the downs from their well-appointed rooms, which feature comfortable beds and modern shower rooms. The friendly and hospitable owners make sure that guests feel welcome and at home. the outdoor pool provides a perfect spot to relax and unwind after a day of exploring the island.
The hotel does not offer breakfast, but there are nearby dining options available.

I booked the Oaklands House to attend a conference in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. With the hotel being only a 20 minute trip on the Catamaran & short train journey from Ryde Pier Head, it proved an excellent location for me. Jan couldn't have gone to any more trouble to ensure a lovely stay at the hotel - pre-arrival information, advice on my travel to the mainland, many little touches in the room to ensure you have all you need and help setting up the complimentary wifi. Unfortunately I didn't get enough time to explore the Island, but the friendliness of welcome and attention to detail will ensure I return when I get the chance. Thanks for a lovely stay!

Friendly staff, clean rooms, and continental breakfast with plenty of choice. Convenient location with easy access to attractions.
Small bath towels and lack of soap dish or handwash. Hassle of using ground coffee instead of instant.

I had a fantastic stay at this lovely gem of a guest house! The room was clean, cozy, and had all the amenities I needed, including a DVD player and iPod dock. The owner was incredibly friendly and gave great recommendations for late-night dining. The breakfast spread was delicious and had a wide variety of options. Although I didn't get a chance to use the pool, it looked inviting and well-maintained. The location was convenient, with easy access to attractions and beautiful coastal roads. I highly recommend staying here for a wonderful getaway.

I'm very happy to recommend Oaklands. Good value, very comfortable and the owner is extremely welcoming and helpful. Great location for getting around e.g. we did not take a car but its very easy to get there and travel around either by the frequent bus or train plus good walks if you are feeling energetic. The gourmet pub the owner recommended for dinner was really excellent and just a short walk away and there are plenty of other good options. The swimming pool was a bonus -enjoyed my swim.
Be aware that the hotel is close to a road which you can't see but can hear with the windows open. If you do want to have the windows closed (which completely blocks the road noise) there was an air conditioning unit in our room and this worked well.
